description Lone Pine Group Campground is adjacent to Rock Creek, a tributary of the North Umpqua River. Lone Pine is situated at the site of the old Rock Creek sawmill that once operated in the 1930s thru the 1950s. The campground is a short drive from the Umpqua National Forest, which boasts incredible glacier-cut mountain slopes across 984,602 acres of forest. The name, Umpqua, is a surviving term of the Native American Umpqua language, and is believed to mean "thundering waters," "across the waters" or "satisfied."
drivingDirection From Roseburg, travel east on Highway 138 for 22 miles. Turn left (north) on Rock Creek Road and proceed 5 and .25 miles. Campground is on the left.
facilitiesDescription The campground is built on a loop with eleven separate sites to give large groups the option for privacy. It fits up to 110 campers and offers a volleyball court, horseshoe pits and use of a pavilion. Across the way is a baseball field that can be reserved for day use by renting the Millpond Pavilion.

importantInformation This is a group campground. The $145 fee includes access to the entire campground, the group pavilion and fire ring, and all amenities. Single sites may not be reserved as this is a group-use facility. Groups that charge a fee or advertise for their event may be required to obtain a special recreation permit. Please visit here or contact Roseburg BLM at 541-440-4930 for more information. A deposit of $200 is required upon reserving the Lone Pine Group Campground. The deposit will be refunded dependent upon completion of a satisfactory inspection conducted after checkout and if ALL rules listed below are followed. Refunds may take up to two weeks to be credited back. Check-in time is at 1:00 pm and check-out time is at 11:00 am. A group size limit of 110 people will be enforced. Excessive noise and drunkenness will not be tolerated. Props for activities may be used if they are not attached to buildings, trees or dug into the ground. Hooks are located at intervals on the upper beams of the pavilion. All types of confetti (including rice, straw, wood chips, bird seed, silly string, etc.) are not allowed. The pavilion and other day-use areas must be cleaned before leaving; Pick up all trash, including cigarette butts and place into the dumpsters; Remove all directional signs on and off site. Upon arrival, contact the campground host near the pavilion for further assistance and instructions. Failure to abide these rules may result in a portion or all of your deposit to be forfeited.
nearbyAttrctionDescription Visitors can get their adventure-fix with kayaking and whitewater rafting in the North Umpqua River or mountain biking and hiking adventures along the 79-mile long North Umpqua Trail--both are just five miles away. The nearby Rock Creek Fish Hatchery is an educational destination, where families can feed rainbow trout and observe Steelhead and salmon. A trip to nearby Crater Lake National Park is another "can't miss" destination.

recreationDescription Hiking picnicking and relaxing are the primary activities at the campground. In summer, swimming in the cool creek is a refreshing treat. In spring and fall, salmon and steelheads come upriver to spawn. To protect valuable native runs of salmon and steelhead, Rock Creek is closed to anglers. Instead, head to the North Umpqua River for abundant fishing opportunities. A drive along the Rogue-Umpqua Scenic Byway yields gorgeous views of mountain peaksforested canyons and alpine lakes.
